BEMER Fact #31 – Power Naps

You have or have had a stressful day. All you want is a Power Nap. You know the feeling. Even if it is just for 6 to 10 minutes. 30 to 35 minutes if you can.

Does it have a medicinal effect? Can it refresh or possibly even alleviate the daily stress? Can I bargain on additional energy after such a brief period of rest? Maybe I FEEL better because it is a placebo effect. Even if that were the sole reason (which it isn’t) a Power Nap is still worth doing. Explore deeper on the Internet. Power Naps are very beneficial.

Today’s highly digitized work environment is characterized by speed, complexity, financial and dead-line pressures. It can aggravate minor sickness conditions and in a dramatic way cause depression and burn-out. Home Office work and the pandemic has clearly shown that.

It has been scientifically verified that the short power nap at work (or at home) improves concentration, work-climate, higher productivity due to better focus, lower stress levels and improves general well-being and even motivation. Personally, I feel refreshed after a 30 min Power Nap especially when I do it on my activated BEMER Mat.

Although probably frowned upon by your boss, even the short 6 to 8 minute power nap is an excellent respite for the brain, the heart and the constricted blood vessels due to our posture in front of the computer. The advantages far outweigh the otherwise “slogging on”, of the tired and unmotivated person. Even lying on the floor, undisturbed for such a short period (taking NO calls, WApps or emails ) will be of great benefit to the business / productivity and the person.

The Harvard School of Public Health in Boston (USA) conducted a 24 000 person study showing that a 3x per week power nap in the afternoon reduces the risk of stroke and circulatory ailments significantly.

Now imagine if you could do your power nap on a BEMER at the same time? Your benefit in stimulating your vascular system, ie blood flow to the brain, general health benefits etc – would be manifold.

The BEMER’s basic 8 minute program fits right in. In fact, the above Harvard study showed that you should not extend the power nap above 40 minutes as you would then be interrupting a specific sleep phase, which is not good for you. The ideal time is after lunch, when your body’s energy is mainly used by the digestive process anyway. Get rid of the drowsiness after lunch. Take a power nap.

In Europe many companies enable their employees intentionally to power nap on corporate-owned BEMERs at work ! And let’s face it, for a business it must have a good Return of Investment, otherwise they would not do it. What sort of Boss are you?
